CHURCH SERMON NOTES

  John 20:1 NIV   

[1] Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance.  

 

  John 20:2 NIV   

[2] So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!” 

 

  John 20:4 NIV   

[4] Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first.  

 

  John 20:5 NIV   

[5] He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in.  

  John 20:7 NIV   

[7] as well as the cloth that had been wrapped around Jesus’ head. The cloth was still lying in its place, separate from the linen.  

 

  John 20:9 NIV   

[9] (They still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead.)  

 

  John 20:11 NIV   

[11] Now Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb  

 

  John 20:12 NIV   

[12] and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus’ body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot. 

 

  John 20:13 NIV   

[13] They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?” “They have taken my Lord away,” she said, “and I don’t know where they have put him.”  

 

  John 20:14 NIV   

[14] At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus. 

 

  John 20:24 NIV   

[24] Now Thomas (also known as Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came.  

 

  John 20:25 NIV   

[25] So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” 

 

  John 20:26 NIV   

[26] A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”

[27] Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”

[7] But go, tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.’ ”

[15] When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.”

[17] The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my sheep.

[8] Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.  

 

Who would you appear to?

Mom:

"I'm Okay"

Pilate:

"Look at me now!"

Sadducees:

"Told Ya..."

Jesus doesn't try to prove his

resurrection...

He wants to share his love. 

He is closer than you think. 

Look for him. 

He is bigger than your doubts. 

Reach out to him. 

He is not giving up on you. 

Love him. 

A: I already know Jesus personally. 

B: I want to begin a relationship with

Jesus today. 

C: I want to consider what Jesus wants to do in my life. 

D: I don't intend to make that decision.
